Learn the basic skills to play safely and confidently
Rugby Skills Academy develops core skills in both codes – tackling, passing, catching, running and kicking – and most importantly teaches correct technique.
These basic skills are fundamental to the game but are often overlooked until players are well into their teens and even adulthood.
More of a concern is that kids are not taught how to play safely, particularly when it comes to tackling, and actually put themselves and other players at risk.
By joining Rugby Skills Academy, players gain confidence, they enjoy the game, they learn how to perform and make decisions under pressure – safely.
Rugby Skills Academy is based in central Queensland but its services extend beyond this region to international clients. It’s and owned and operated by skills specialist Onehunga Mata’uiau. Onehunga is a former international World Cup rugby and sevens player and Level 2 accredited coach with over 17 years of coaching experience.
Onehunga creates a stimulating and fun environment for players aged from seven to 18 years old through a wide range of innovative drills.
These skills sessions are designed to complement rugby or league club and school training.
